Creating a project

A project is the home for one film — every video, still, and piece of writing lives inside it. You can create as many as you like.

  1. From the Projects page, click + New project.
  2. Give it a title and a one-line liner — the short hook that introduces the film.
  3. Choose a format (feature, short, or series) and a status (development, production, post-production, live, or archive). Status shows as a coloured stamp on the project so you can see at a glance where each film stands.
  4. Set the target year and click Create project.
  5. Your written-materials section is pre-populated with a liner, short synopsis, and long synopsis — ready for you to fill in.
Your project workspace

Opening a project takes you to its workspace — a single page that holds everything about the film and everything you can do with it.

The header shows your poster, title, liner, format and duration, production-status stamp, a featured header video, and your filmmaker details with key dates. Click the ✎ pencil beside the project tag to edit the title, liner, format, status, and year at any time.

Below the header, the workspace is organised into three sections:

  1. 01 · Videos — trailers, teasers, cuts, and reels. The first one you add becomes the featured header video; change it later from any video's page.
  2. 02 · Stills — posters, film stills, behind-the-scenes photos, and graphics. Upload an image and click the ◧ icon to set it as the project poster.
  3. 03 · Written materials — synopses, director's notes, credits, and any other text, written inline. You can also upload documents (PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT) such as a finished press kit or budget.

Mark any individual video, still, or written piece as public to control exactly what appears on your public page and press kit. The Public page strip near the top is where you publish the project, set its URL, and add a password — covered below.

Full video library

Each project holds a set of video slots — teaser, trailer, sizzle, scene select, rough cut, and screener cuts. Trial accounts can upload a single video; Pro unlocks every slot across all your projects.

  1. Open a project, then go to the Videos section.
  2. Click + Upload and choose a title and video type.
  3. Pick your file — it uploads directly to our video host and begins processing automatically.
  4. The first video you add becomes the project's header video. Change it later from any video's detail page.
Press kit generation

Every public project gets a ready-made press kit — no extra work. It's auto-assembled from material you've already added: poster, synopsis, stills, trailer, technical specs (format, year, duration, resolution), and your contact details.

  1. Make sure the project is set to Public (see Public project pages below).
  2. Add a synopsis under Written materials and mark the stills and trailer you want shown as public.
  3. Share the press kit at sala.video/your-film/press — or click Press Kit ↗ from the project page.
  4. It respects the same password as your public page, so a protected film keeps its press kit protected too.

Secure review links with timecoded feedback

Send festivals, distributors, press or collaborators a private link to watch a cut. You can also request optional feedback with the viewer's notes pinned to the exact second of the timeline. Links can carry a password, an expiry date, and a view limit.

  1. Click a video to open its detail page.
  2. Under Screener links, click + Create link.
  3. Set an optional label (e.g. "Sundance programming"), an expiry, a view limit, and a password.
  4. Tick Request feedback to let the reviewer leave notes anchored to specific timecodes as they watch.
  5. Copy the generated link and send it. Reviewer notes come back to you, and the link's view count appears beside it.

Need to send the actual file? Use + Create link under Download links instead — those are one-time by default and track who downloaded, when, and from where.

View analytics

See how your work is being received across every project.

  1. Click Public in the top navigation to open your activity dashboard.
  2. The top row totals screener views, downloads, and public-page visits for the selected period.
  3. The By project breakdown shows the same metrics per film, plus trailer plays.
  4. Scroll down for viewer countries, a feed of recent activity, and your active screener and download links.
Public project pages

Each film gets a clean public page at its own URL, streaming your videos through signed, expiring embeds so they can't be hotlinked elsewhere.

  1. On the project page, flip the Private / Public toggle to Public.
  2. Your page goes live at sala.video/your-film.
  3. Choose which videos, stills, and written materials are made public by clicking the check-mark on each item.
  4. Optionally click the 🔓 lock to add a password — useful before a film is ready for the open web.
  5. Use Preview ↗ to see exactly what your audience sees.
